Wow! Just read the nasty comments! Leave Nitin fans alone! I'm one myself. Learn about the man. You will be amazed by who he is and how much he's done for so many!

Nitin should have won. He's very hard working and had the best idea by far. Big shame.

C Blair below is spouting rubbish on many levels! First of all there can be no slander because the attacks on Nitin are indeed based on malicious lies in the first place and secondly are perpetrated by bigots who refuse to give real names or details. Finally, the idea of demonising anyone who supports Nitin as a Nitin fan who has no value and is in some way not worthy of being heard is reprehensible to say the least. Now stop attacking a man who has more integrity than all of you racist bigots put together! Clearly a very strong BNP contingent. Otherwise why attack Nitin? What exactly had he done to desererve these attacks? Just been successful. Read his biography all you bigots!!!

Bus stops? You have got to be joking!!!

I logged on to see what had been chosen for the Olympic City, and I wasn't disappointed as Bus Tops is an interesting project. What I cannot understand, though, is why Nitin Sawhney's fans have taken it upon themselves to be arbiters of this competition. They ought to be very careful accusing anyone of bigotry, as in themselves those accusations can be slanderous. Just because Nitin Sawhney's project wasn't chosen doesn't make those who aren't his fans bigots or racist, and to suggest that is offensive in itself. Congratulations to the Bus Stops team.

I can see it's the same one or two people who have attacked Nitin as opposed to his legions of fans who he will never lose because of bigots like these. We all know he should have won and the fact is that the bus tops idea is not accessible like nitin's idea. He would have looked after disabled people unlike this lot.

Don't get bus-tops at all. How does that deserve half a mil?

Sorry for cross-posting, but the blogs on this site are a bit all over the place.
What a fantastic "signature project" for London. What was the message again? Oh yes, "we're only nearly a decade behind what goes on elsewhere, please bear with us while we try and think of a way to look beyond our own noses."
Bravo for the Cultural Olympiad.

I want to go outside to see art....I can fine better things on the net if I want to look...
The games dont interest me....Great to see people playing with not so new technology. Hope you can make something interesting out of it....I cant see anything so far to attract me..

Can the BNP add things to the screens?

I agree!
Remember, if the Conservatives get in, there may be no arts council in the future anyway. So, enjoy this while you can.
The bus stops are not so bad....bit dull but not terrible as so many people seem to think.
They are aright.
Get used to them.
The decision has been made and Nitin did not win. The best idea has won! Probably! We may never know..... Lets all make it work, yes all of us... YOU too... :-))
Ahhh Haaaaa Ha!

"immersive games and mystery style games too" Please can you expand?
Games have evolved. We are seeing the emergence of games which involve people through the web, handheld technology and interactions in the real world. When you blend all of these elements together you get fantastically immersive experiences. There are quite a few people doing games like this and someone we've been speaking with through our development phase are The Go Game. Here is a demo screen which describes how gameplay using the canvases might play out.

There's no racism in saying that Nitin Sawhney shouldn't have won! His supporters are being ridiculous, and are losing him legions of fans by reacting like this. Give some credit and respect to the artists who did win, and let them get on with it instead of whingeing.

i'm amazed and amused and appalled in equal measure by people's negative reactions to this. Just to be clear, i'm nothing to do with bus_tops - i heard about it online. I can only assume, rather patronizingly, that the anonymous complainers are having a knee jerk reaction to something they don't understand, or is outside their comfort zone. As someone who takes an interest in real world installations of cloud-based art, I think this is an inspired concept, and will deliver a lot of great work in what is otherwise just dead wasted space. And there is nothing more London than the top deck of a bus. Am *very* happy that this has won.

"Are they like TV screens ?"
No, not at all. When you give artists constraints to create within it helps both the creative process (by providing boundaries) and the finished work (the boundaries help define the work). With this in mind we want to work with monochromatic displays (although this is up for debate) and a low fidelity in terms of pixel depth (we are working with currently 18,000 total pixels, although again this may change in consultation/prototyping). TV Screens are LCD whilst we will be using LED technology, so there will be a more 'bitty' aesthetic to the works.
surely a joke....

Just wanted to say, fabulous idea to have these LED panels on bus tops. Shame that it's eight years old:
